Ed's Linens began its humble beginnings after founder Mr. Ed Rothman took a " leap of faith" and decided to transition from being a drapery fabric and bed & bath wholesalerin the 1981 recession crisis to retailer. In his travels over the previous few years Ed noticed a wave of specialty discount bed, bath & linen chains open and flourish within the U.S. and successfully compete against the conservative department stores. Such retailers included famous names like Strouds in California & Pacific Linen in Washington state, These stores provided a specialized and focused assortment of linens at slightly better than boutique or department store pricing, knowledgeable staff and a smaller size store footprint within better parts of city neighbourhoods.

Ed, with the help of his family members, opened his first Ed's Linen Warehouse store outlet beside the old Stacy's furniture retailer in 1982 in the suburb of Richmond B.C. and never looked back.
The store and its unique exciting contents of mostly previously unseen U.S. brands in Canada was an immediate success with the local consumer. Ed and his son Jeff went on to expand further over the next decade to become Western Canada's most famous and beloved discount Bed & Bath specialist retailer. Since its inception in the 1980's Ed's Linens has evolved to become less focussed on discounting or price driven and more quality, continuity and unique with assortments not found in other department or specialty stores. Having survived against the invasion of much larger big box retailers like Linens n Things they have proven that there still remains a strong niche to provide the consumer with a smaller viable alternative to the larger format competition. |
Ed's Linens now prides themselves as being a well established specialty bed bath & home products retailer still offering exceptional value, special buys ,unique selection and friendly personalized service within a smaller more intimate store atmosphere in great neighbourhood locations throughout the Lower Mainland of British Columbia. In 2006 they also made shopping easier with the implementation of a web catalogue. The newest generation Ed's Linens store prototypes opened in 2007 & 2008 providing consumers with an elegant, bright and uplifting atmosphere. They now operate 7 locations within the Vancouver region and have plans for more in years to come.
